1. Grant The Miner

Grant Johnson, a lifelong miner, had always loved the area of Moab, Utah, and had long hoped to build a home in the mountains. In his middle years, he finally bought 40 acres of untouched land and started his renovation.

2. Started With Nothing

Grant began by blasting a little tunnel in the middle of nowhere as the foundation for his dream home. With a total area of 5,700 square feet, this "small" cave was more than enough for him to spend four seasons there.

3. The Working Process

The miner then used glass as walls so that he could immerse himself in the wild landscape without too many obstacles. He even solved the water problem, transporting water from a pond at the foot of the mountain via a 22-foot wooden wheel that could reach his home.

4. From The Outside

After years of renovation, the isolated cave has been transformed into a unique home, complete with a reception area. Let's take a look inside!

5. The Living Room

At the heart of the cave is the living room. It is filled with different sofas, and a vast glass wall that separates the inside from the outside. You can easily read a book in natural light or simply sit there and enjoy the view.

6. The Kitchen

Next to the living room is the kitchen. Again, large glass walls let in sunlight to accompany the people who cook. When you're done cooking, you can eat outside, surrounded by trees and nature.

7. The Entertainment Area

It looks like Grant also loves music, and there's a lot of music-related stuff in the corner: guitars, stereos, speakers, and mic stands. When the weather is bad, here must be his paradise.

8. The Passageway

The rooms are connected by wooden stairs and "bridges" because Grant didn't want the modern design to spoil the sense of nature. However, he did add a cozy touch by placing strings of lights on the staircases.

9. The Master Bedroom

The second floor is the master bedroom with a bathroom below. A "torch" has been installed on the wall next to the stairs, so you don't trip over at night.

10. The Guest Room

There is a smaller room, especially for guests. While there are no glass walls to see the outside, there are a few lights that stay on all the time. That way you never need to worry about running out of light.

11. A Perfect Getaway

Now, Grant has turned his dream house into an Airbnb home. Those who want a brief escape can come to his getaway and experience life in isolation and enjoy immersing themselves in nature.

12. The View At Night

A short walk to bedrock will allow you to enjoy a tourist favorite, stargazing with incredible rock formations surrounding you. With any luck, you might even notice some shooting stars streaking across the sky.
