Delvar Dopson had been a sanitation worker for years. He was pretty reserved and hadn't talked to many people in that area, but this time one of the neighbors got to know him up close. The video she took has been reposted millions of times on the internet.
This story tells us something that isn't often talked about in most communities. As we know, Delvar didn't know everyone personally in the neighborhood, but he was polite and seemed to have become particularly close to one family: the Andrackes.
As a matter of fact, Delvar had never spoken to the Andrackes in person, but instead he would honk and wave at them every time he drove past their house. Why had he started this routine? How had their bond begun in the first place?
Turns out the Andrackes' 3-yr-old daughter Brooklyn was Delvar's biggest admirer! Every Thursday she would peek out the window and wave at Delvar as he drove by. Her mother Traci knew how badly Brooklyn wanted to meet him, so she came up with a perfect surprise, which was witnessed by her neighbor and millions of people online. It was quite a roller coaster!
The following Thursday happened to be Brooklyn's 4-yr-old birthday. As Delvar was driving by her house as usual, he noticed the Andrackes wanted him to stop, so he did. His heart melted as Brooklyn came up to him and handed him a cupcake! Traci was beyond happy to see her kid meet her hero! However, the surprise was far from over!
Having received the cupcake, Delvar gave Brooklyn the warmest hug she could ask for. "She was literally starstruck and could not even say a word. I had to do all of the talking for her," Traci was grateful that Delvar had made her daughter's dream come true! However, there was still more to the story!
The next Thursday, Delvar came back with more than a friendly wave. He got Brooklyn a merch pack from her favorite movie Frozen! Both the little girl and her mom couldn't withhold their excitement, and they even made a thank you note in return. Delvar was so moved that his job could brighten a little girl's day, but his mission was not over.
Driving the garbage truck was something Delvar took pride in, but he considered it as a stepping stone, as he was planning to achieve other things in his life. After years of preparation, his dreams would finally come true.
After putting in many extra hours after work, Delvar finally achieved one of his goals - becoming a licensed realtor. He later posted the news to his social media, expressing how ecstatic he was about the next chapter of his life.
Delvar's charismatic personality soon landed him a position at a prestigious real estate company. In the meantime, he was well on his way to other dreams too!
